Healthy Planning for the Holiday!

Staying on track during the summer holidays can be difficult. BBQs galore and we all know most people are grilling those burgers, hot dogs, and indulging in those sugary treats brought over by your favorite Aunt Edna! "Don't people know about this Lifestyle Change I am on" is all that is running through your head right?! Haha.

It doesn't need to be difficult or require a lot of thinking to stay on track during these fun summer holiday picnics! All you have to do is just "prepare" yourself a little bit and stay in the right mindset! I want to share with you all a few tips of how I plan on staying on track tomorrow for my sister's birthday and 4th of July picnic we're hosting!! :)

So, on our current menu we are planning on grilling some hamburger, hot dogs, having pasta salad, chips, and a fruit salad of some sort! We are totally skipping the cake - ha, my choice! I know it sounds like I am going to have a run for my money, which I totally am, because with all these temptations - it is going to be very difficult to stay on track! But I have a goal & I am totally sticking to it!

So here are my five tips that I want to share with you of how I will be staying on track tomorrow and over the course of the weekend!

  1. DRINK WATER: H20 all day, everyday! Drinking enough water throughout the day can actually help you stay fuller! Try adding some strawberries, cucumbers, or even lemon/limes to create a flavorful, refreshing drink! (Drinking water can actually assist in weight loss -- so drink up!)
  2. Drink my Shakeology! For those of you who do not drink Shakeology or even know anything about it - it's the BOMB.com! For reals! I drink chocolate Shakeology - sometimes add a little banana, and peanut butter in it for 1 of my fruits for the day, and a healthy fat and it fills me up!! Shakeology also helps with curbing my junk food cravings and keeping me full! GOOD BYE SWEET TOOTH - HELLO SHRINKING WAIST LINE! ;) HAHA. (If you would like more information on Shakeology, click here: Shakeology Information)
  3. Commit to my daily workout! Just because it is a holiday doesn't mean it is time to slack! I will probably wake up to do an at home workout as well as doing a 5k in my community! :) A great suggestion I have for you to commit to your workout - SIGN  UP FOR A RUN! :) There is usually always a 5k/10k or some other type of race on the holidays! It is also fun to participate in these!!
  4. Make your own healthy snacks/Bring a doggie bag! It is that simple! If you have goals that you are pushing towards, then bring along your own healthy snacks if you know there probably will be very limited options for you - do as you may!
  5. Do not deprive yourself! If you know that you are going to be having a picnic or something on the 4th of July and you would like to indulge just a little bit... save your cheat meal for that day; however, limit what you eat! I will be eating a turkey burger and probably have a little bit of pasta salad or something - but not overindulging! :) My countdown to Nashville meal plan is on point so I don't want to screw up my hard work!

I hope that you have found some of these tips to be useful and you are able to put some of them into play! You don't need to "dread" the holidays or isolate yourself during your health and fitness journey - all it takes is a little preparation and thinking!

I hope you all have an awesome holiday weekend and enjoy your time with friends and family!
God Bless the U.S.A!

Fitness & Self-Confidence

I remember just a few short years ago how frustrated I was with myself. How much I didn't like to be seen in public. How much I hated the person I saw in the mirror. Even how much my relationship was affected by the way I felt about myself. It was a very sad, depressing time in my life - but then by some miracle from God - my relationship turned around and I got engaged on November 16, 2012!

Knowing that I had a wedding to plan and a beautiful wedding gown to wear, was all the motivation I needed to commit to a new, healthy lifestyle! I was scared and intimidated because I knew nothing about stepping into a gym. I didn't know anything about clean eating, nor did I have a support system to cheer me on. I started out on my own but I was beyond determined to be successful!

After four short months - I had lost 20 pounds and started to feel some type of weight lifted off my shoulders. I was feeling better about myself. I wasn't so negative. I had hope that I would be able to make it through this difficult period of my life. But then I got stuck. I was working out two or three hours a day. I was "eating healthier", in my opinion, haha. BUT I was stuck at a plateau for 8 months. It was so awful and with my wedding only 5 months away I was getting desperate because I was still unhappy with where I was.

In January of 2014 - everything started to take this turn for the better. I joined Team Beachbody for a discount on Shakeology. I started T25. I was training for my second half marathon and my confidence was becoming more common. I was finally able to start standing up for myself. I was happier. I wasn't so focused on the negativity. I started feeling differently about myself as well as helping other people feel this way. My overall outlook on life has dramatically changed.

I can tell you honestly that I never had any idea of this type of change in my life just by committing to working out for my wedding. I am in awe of everything that has happened over the last year and a half. Just to name a few:

  • I lost an additional 15 pounds since January of 2014 - finally getting me to my goal weight
  • I have gained so much more confidence in myself, as well as my relationship, and full time job
  • I am not afraid to voice my opinion
  • I have been able to change my mindset in regards to my financial situations
  • I have created many long lasting friendships with people I barely knew last year
  • I have rid my life of negativity and learned to take responsibility for my actions
  • I have finally gotten myself back into Church after 20 years and loving every minute of it

Now I am sure people could have experienced these types of things without fitness - but being comfortable in my own skin was a huge deal for me. Everyone wants to love the person they see in the mirror everyday. And everyone deserves that feeling! Fitness, clean eating, and this amazing support system I have behind me -- helped me get to this point today!

If you are someone who struggles with their self image, self confidence, or just lack of motivation overall, I can tell you... deep down, there is the will do change your life. It may not be easy, it may take a year or maybe two - but I promise you! Things will get better and you will be victorious!

Maybe fitness could change your life? What do you have to lose? If you would like to partake in my upcoming Coach Apprenticeship group - please fill out the form below! I am......... A Blogger!

I was listening to a Podcast the other day. You know what is funny -- It spoke to me, like literally spoke to me and said - you need to get back on board with your blog!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The one thing I got to thinking about is this blog. It has been lacking some love and I really haven't been keeping up with it. WHY? Well, because I really didn't think I was good enough to write a blog. But the reason that is --- I wasn't trying to make it good. I wasn't trying to make it valuable. Sure, I put posts out there that were meant to help, inspire, encourage, and drive individuals to live a happier and healthier life BUT -- I really wasn't giving it my all!

SO.... Here I am! I am taking a stab at this again and putting forth more effort into this blog! It's a great way to share my struggles, get opinions from my followers and actually share what goes through this crazy mind of mine! :)

I am hoping that you will stick around and get ready for a change for the Blog!

What should you do now:

  • Check back every couple days for a new post
  • Comment on this post on what type of posts you would like to see
  • If you enjoy what you see, simply like, comment, share and maybe even leave me a review!

Thank you all to my loyal followers and I hope to make you proud with some upcoming changes to the blog! :)

How do you describe yourself? Leader? Follower?

As I was sitting outside today enjoying some quiet time to myself and about to begin reading my personal development, I came across this little quote on a photo app that I have... "Be the lead character in your life!"

It really got me thinking, how do you think of yourself at this very moment? Do you tend to follow the actions of others? Need them to give you that extra umph to get started on your journey, or are you the one who is giving that extra push. Taking leads on the projects coming up. Being the voice in the crowd?

I use to be the follower. I use to not know what I wanted to do in this life. I use to hide behind everyone and let them take charge. I was a very shy girl growing up so I was afraid of people's opinions, I was afraid of what people my say about my ideas, and I was just afraid of being judged for the way I wanted to do things. Well, that's the beauty of my Beachbody business... I am the boss! I make the rules on how I want to run my business. I get to call the shots.

A leader is defined as a person who leads or commands a person or group! It's not that I want to lead my team or give them commands... I want to them to duplicate my actions! Become leaders themselves. I don't want them to hide behind me or shy away from an amazing opportunity... I want them to flourish and become the brightest star possible! Everyone is capable of being an amazing leader, it takes practice, trial and error, determination and will.

With that being said, I am looking to mentor 10 women in the month of May! I want to create leaders who are going to take over this universe! Who are ready to take charge of their lives. Design a life they love. Create freedom for their families and become so incredibly comfortable with themselves that they want to share all these wonderful joys in life with everyone they come in contact with!

If you would like to be considered for this exclusive coach apprenticeship beginning May 26th, please complete the form below and I will contact you with more details regarding this group! I will be extremely selective with choosing the ten women. You must be willing to be active within the group, able to work with others, encourage those others around you and want to live a life you can be proud of! This journey in life we are on... you determine how you live it! Create a life that you can look back on and be proud of it! <3

Third Time Around! May 3, 2015

5:30AM alarm on a Sunday morning? Are you crazy talking?! That is probably what all the people hanging out in the Steel City thought on Sunday, May 3, 2015, ready to take the route on an incredible journey through this gorgeous city! The weather was perfect. Blue skies. Temps just right. Sun was shining. Crowds cheering on strangers and their loved one. DJs. Bands. Spectators. Marching Bands. Cheerleaders. Friends & family. I have to say it, Marathon Day in Pittsburgh is seriously one of my favoritest days in this city!

This year, my third half marathon was super special! I got to run along side my very best friend! It was a great feeling to have someone supporting you and pushing you to keep going towards that finish line. While this run was probably the most difficult of the three half marathons I have ran, I still had one goal in mind.. finishing! Which is exactly what I did. There was doubts in my mind if I would make it to the finish line. I had pains in my knees. My ankles started to hurt. I walked too much. At one point, I felt like I should just crawl to the finish line, ha. (true story)

I don't want you to think you have to go out there and be perfect. I will be honest with you flat out... this was my WORST time for the half marathon! My official time was 2:57:33! Yep, you heard me.. almost 3 hours! My first half marathon was around 2:40 and last year my time was 2:20! So yep, that's right. I added 37 minutes to my time. But that's ok. I didn't train properly, but I knew I was committed to it. I went out there, paced myself because I didn't want to injure myself and knew that if I could cross that finish line, all is right in MY world!

Too many people strive to be perfect. They put so much pressure on themselves that they forget to enjoy this life they live. You were given one life. Don't stress on the things that didn't go right. Don't dwell on not achieving that goal the first time around. Don't think about all the negative comments you might hear for "failing." Remember this.. FAILURE is PROOF you are TRYING! You are working towards creating a better life for yourself! That is what life is about!

You take risks. You take chances. You fail. You get back up. You keep trying. You NEVER give up! Never ever give up! You can, and will succeed! And with that said... I will be back at it for Round 4 next year! I will train properly, and I will (MARK MY WORD) I will beat my time! :)

Proud Daughter Moment!! :)

Today was an extremely proud daughter moment for me! I was chatting with my mom a couple weeks ago and recently learned that she had committed to getting a gym membership! As her only daughter who has such a huge passion for health and fitness, I was beyond ecstatic. We never really talked too much but after chatting with her everyday after that call and saw that she was totally committed, I thought about mentioning to her about this super awesome Shakeology Sampler that Beachbody just released (read on to hear more about this awesome new product). It was perfect for her because she could sample all six flavors of Shakeology that we offer. I don't recall her ever drinking any nutritional shakes and thought it would be the perfect addition to her health and fitness journey!

I spoke with her today and she had mentioned that she really enjoyed her shake! She was excited because she had so much energy and the taste was great! :) I was seriously just jumping for joy because my mom has always been the type to put everyone before her. She would always ensure everyone else's needs were met before hers which in turn, caused her own needs (health) to be placed on the back burner. She finally realized that she was done with the excuses and she wanted a change! I couldn't have been more proud of my mother for this!

What amazes me even more is that she was able to experience some of the amazing benefits of Shakeoogy right after having the shake! She had long lasting energy that helped her keep active all day! Do protein shakes do that? Probably not which what makes Shakeology so unique. Shakeology IS NOT (and I repeat, IS NOT) a protein shake. It is an all-natural, superfood packed nutritional shake! It has more than just protein. It has those Superfoods that help fight against inflammation (which is the leading cause to most diseases!!!) Shakeology helps regulate your digestive system and gives you some long lasting energy! But yes, Shakeology will assist in your weight loss journey but it is not designed strictly for weight loss. It is designed to ensure you are getting PROPER nutrition which in our society, is ignored most of the time. People lack time, are always on the go and would rather accommodate their growling tummy with a quick and easy trip through the nearest driveby.. but yes another added benefit to Shakeology is the simple fact that it is quick, easy and super convenient!! If you would like to take a leap of faith, and just go with your gut feeling and give Shakeology a go, email me at StephMcClintock@teambeachbody.com!!
Order the Shakeology Sampler!

Going back to my mother's situation where she constantly neglected her own health after having her children and then of course grandchildren.. I want to make it very aware to you that YOU are worth so much more than you think! Every single person, no matter how busy you are, how much stress you are under, who all you are caring for, etc. deserves to have their needs fulfilled just as much as everyone around them. YOU have to be ok with allowing yourself some type of success, happiness, and fulfillment in life!

Wouldn't life be wonderful if you could be surrounded by uplifting, inspiring, and motivating individuals? People who understood the struggles you experience in life, but also could share tips and tricks on ways to overcome those struggles? What if you could stop the negative self-talk? What if you could design a life you were proud of and you actually loved! If you answered yes to any of these questions, I want you to join our Fit Squad! Fill out the questionnaire below and I will contact you about an amazing opportunity you will not want to miss out on.

Enough is Enough! Excuses won't get me results!!

"Would you rather be covered in sweat or covered in clothes on the beach?"

That is what I have to keep asking myself. I have been slacking off hardcore and really not sure what the deal is. I told myself that I would commit to staying on track and focused over the last month to prepare for my birthday weekend in Myrtle Beach, BUT I have just been eating anything and everything I wanted (women, that time of the month, if you know what I mean!) It has been oober stressful. The lack of willpower I have just drives me insane!! The hardest part is that I mentally beat myself up and get really discouraged, depressed about not seeing any results..... NEWSFLASH, YOU DON'T GET THE RESULTS YOU WANT WHEN YOUR DIET SUCKS!!! Point. Blank!

So today, I have committed to going all in. I have 17 days until I head to Myrtle Beach and I know that I can I can do it.  After recently listening to some personal development about whether or not you can do something, it is all in how you go about it. Tell yourself you are going to fail, you will fail. Tell yourself it will be tough, but you know you can do it and constantly remind yourself you are doing great... you will do great! Positive reinforcement will take you great places! Which is exactly what begins today.... I KNOW I can do this.. and I will! :)

I want to extend an invitation to you! I want you to join me, cheer me on, help keep me motivated and cross that finish line with me! And in return, I WILL DO THE SAME FOR YOU! It is all about team effort. I find that when you have an amazing support group standing behind you, cheering you on, rooting for you, putting all their belief in you... you will without a doubt be successful! With that being said, I am hosting an exclusive 30 day challenge group beginning on April 6th. Our challenge groups have taught people the ultimate formula. Fitness + Results + Motivation + Accountability = Success! END OF STORY.

We offer our challenge groups the following:

  • 30 Day Exclusive Challenge Group
  • Basic Clean Eating Tips
  • Meal Planning Tips/Tricks
  • 30 Day Supply of Shakeology
  • Motivation
  • Accountability
  • ME as your coach/guide through your journey

This is really the package deal! What helped me stay on track beginning my journey last February was the accountability in these groups! It is easy to say, "Oh, I just like doing it on my own." Ok well yes, I said the same thing... but what I found was when I ran into roadblocks, I had no one to share my frustrations with. If I had a plateau, I had no one to chat with or anyone to offer me a different method to follow. I knew nothing about clean eating. I knew about the 80/20 rule, but I never realized how effective it was until I had other people doing the same thing and seeing awesome results with it! It is all about balance with this journey, they helped me see that!

I want you to join me on this journey! Take a chance. Understand that it is totally ok to ask/want help and support through this journey. It is not a diet, fad, or a quick fix. We work hard, every single day because we know that the end results will be absolutely worth it! I am only accepting 4 more individuals in this group... If you would like to be considered, please fill out the below form or email me at stephainemcclintock@gmail.com!

Finances & Creating a Life I Can Be Proud of!

Let's go way back to day one... April 17, 1987... Day 1 of this crazy thing called life. The first day I was welcomed into this world with open arms. Bringing so much happiness and joy to the world, but (obviously) little did I know life was about to get super crazy!

I come from a family where success means so little. Working hard was frowned upon, and well if you had a different vision than what my family believed, you were "acting like you were too good for the family." In my opinion, that was not the case in my situation. I saw my family struggle, the arguments, the lack of money, living in a homeless shelter, it was not your picture perfect family. I had a different vision... I wanted more out of life -- something more than blaming the world for my problems, running scared when things got tough, working at minimum wage jobs, having no clear vision of where I wanted life to take me.... I wanted more, so much more and so I put my head into the game and I was on a mission.

I never really had much of a clear vision of where I wanted to see my life until just last year... I saw so many successful business owners, who worked from home, got to enjoy spending time with their children and never missing out on life. I was (still am) super envious of that.. I wanted that and to be honest, working always had to be an option for me. I never had any real role models growing up or someone who taught me the importance of your finances, college, and a career so I had to take it upon myself to teach myself.

After graduating high school, I was already in a hole, felt like I was falling right into the same footsteps as my parents.. I had maxed out my first credit card, over drafted a bank account and really had no money to pay these collection agencies who would call non-stop call all hours of the day. This is embarrassing, but I want to be real with you. These struggles have helped shaped me into the person I am today. It took me probably about 2 years to get rid of my credit card debt the first time, as well as my over drafted bank account.. but I was getting back on the right track, or so I thought.

Round 2 of getting caught up in credit card debt which occurred about 2 years later, wrecking my car, working at a minimum wage job, and attending college living in the grand city of Pittsburgh..... it was too much. Overwhelming would have been an understatement. I wanted to run away from life, racking up student loan debt, becoming delinquent on credit card payments, and just feeling like I would never amount to anything, my life became a black hole. I never saw a way out.

I had officially graduated with a bachelor's degree in December 2010 from Robert Morris University (first one in my entire family to do so). I was thousands of dollars in debt due to not making much money and putting myself through college, so my last resort was credit cards and that was all I had until I had 4 credit cards at the max and no way to pay them (AGAIN). I couldn't sleep at night, I saw no sign of a light at the end of that tunnel...no help from my parents, no nothing.... I was on my own. Once I started making a decent salary at my first "Real World" job, I finally decided to come up with a budget. Really focus on trying to get my life back on track. It wasn't easy, and to this day, I am still working on ridding my life of credit card debt.

Beginning last year, I was determined to get rid of this credit card debt after my wedding... it was haunting me, and I knew the only way I could stop stressing so much about it was to take charge of my finances. Buying a house was at stake due to my debt to income ratio, so it was a must. I knew that the only way I would feel successful would be to rid my life of this mess I created. I made a better budget plan, sacrificed many of the pointless shopping trips and things I knew I didn't need and soon, I saw a light. I finally had some breathing room, and 4 months later, we were approved to purchase our first home! It was the most amazing feeling ever!

I committed to having all my credit card debt gone by December 31, 2014 - but I fell short with just one credit card (this had the largest balnc). With buying a new house and all the things we needed for it right away as well as Christmas, there wasn't much wiggle room, so I made smaller payments for the last two months but am determined to hopefully have it gone, no later than May of this year!

To give you a better view of what I did over the last 7 months...

In May of 2014, I had almost $10,000 in debt.
With the commission I earned from Beachbody, as well as the practices
of strict budgeting and sacrifices, my husband and I have eliminated almost
$5,000 in credit card debt. CRAZINESS! Even after paying for our
wedding in the Outer Banks, NC!!
Trust me, It can be done!

If there is one thing I have learned through this entire process, YOU ARE IN CONTROL of your life. You make the calls, you determine the amount of success you have and you make the calls. Everyone is given the same amount of time everyday, some people may make more than you, some people may make less than you, but it is your choice to be successful. It is ONLY your choice.

Even with no guidance, no leadership, no handbook, I committed to creating a life I could be proud of.. and yes it is true, Beachbody gave me this vision. Beachbody gave me the opportunity to find out that I was meant for great things. It may have taken me quite a few years to believe that, but now that I see the endless possibilities, I know that the sky is the limit. This is just the beginning.

Week 10 T25 Meal Plan -- Preparing myself for Insanity Max: 30

Today I decided to share with you what one of my weekly meal plans look like. I am currently finishing up on Week 10 of T25 and will be getting ready to embark on the Insanity Max: 30 Journey beginning December 15th!

Insanity Max is 21 Day Fix approved so I am so excited to be able to stick with the round about same type of planning. Nothing too drastically changing. I am really going to put my all into this program and ensure that I am succeeding in the nutrition department as this has always been a weakness of mine.

I am really trying to mentally prepare myself because my husband and I have decided that we only want to venture out and do the larger grocery list shopping maybe once or twice a month, CRAZY RIGHT? Well the thing is, that means I would have to put together TWO weeks worth of meal plans. But as well as the bulk buying we are doing while grocery shopping to save money, this will ensure that we are able to have enough food for this longer period of time and help us stay on track. We have also agreed to not eat out until the New Year except for a Holiday Party we are attending later in the month.

What are my difficulties with staying on track with nutrition?
My biggest struggle while staying on track with my nutrition is sweets! I have tried to plan accordingly and choose "healthy" sweeter foods. This will help ensure that I am not grabbing snacks throughout the day or depriving myself. 80/20 rule is key when trying to stick with any fitness program. If you aren't then you will set yourself up for failure by depriving yourself of those "treats" here and there.

What do I hope to get out of this weekly meal plan?
I hope this meal plan and seeing it everyday keeps me on track because they do say, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. I usually prep my lunches during the day Sunday and keep them similar because it's easier for me when I am in the office. I get a lot of peer pressure from the office, so I want to ensure that I am able to come back and say that I already have my lunch and pass on the invitation.

Beginning December 15th, my husband and I will be venturing into the crazy journey of Insanity Max: 30! I will be sharing our progress and our meal plans for the week as we go on and will ensure that we share with you our struggles and what we love about the program!
